Overview

The VOOK ClipX is a dual-channel wireless microphone system built around two Mic Transmitters and one Mic Receiver. The transmitters clip onto clothing and capture audio with their built-in microphones, transmitting it wirelessly to the receiver. The receiver plugs directly into your device — no app or driver installation needed.

Built for creators who need reliable, broadcast-quality wireless audio in a compact, always-ready package, the ClipX keeps things simple: take the transmitters and receiver out of the charging dock, connect the receiver to your phone or camera, and you're ready to record.

We recommend reading through this guide before getting started to get the best performance and safe use out of your ClipX.

Getting Started

Setup is instant. The ClipX Mic Transmitters and Mic Receiver come pre-paired — just take them out of the Charging Dock, connect the receiver to your device, and you're good to go.

Initial Setup

  1. 1Remove both Mic Transmitters and the Mic Receiver from the Charging Dock.
  2. 2The transmitter LEDs will begin flashing, indicating they are powering on and searching for the receiver.
  3. 3Connect the Mic Receiver directly to your smartphone. Use the included Lightning Adapter for iPhone/iPad, or connect directly via USB-C for Android devices.
  4. 4The receiver and transmitter LEDs turn solid once pairing is complete.
  5. 5Open your preferred camera or recording app and begin recording.
Pro Tip
The ClipX features automatic pairing — the transmitters and receiver remember each other after their first connection. Simply take them out of the Charging Dock and they'll pair automatically every time.

Using the Clip

Each VOOK ClipX Mic Transmitter features a secure integrated clip, designed to attach firmly to the edge of clothing such as a shirt collar, jacket lapel, or chest pocket. The clip keeps the microphone stable throughout your recording session.

For best audio quality, position the transmitter as high on the chest as comfortably possible — ideally within 20–30 cm (8–12 inches) of the speaker's mouth.

Attach clip to collar or lapel

Position the Mic Transmitter near the speaker's collar for optimal audio pickup

Pro Tip
Mount the ClipX transmitter as close to your subject's mouth as possible without blocking the mic grille with clothing. Its slim rectangular profile makes it easy to conceal discreetly for a cleaner on-camera look.

How to Use

The VOOK ClipX connects directly to your smartphone or camera via the Mic Receiver. No app download or configuration required — it works as a standard plug-and-play USB audio device.

iOS (iPhone / iPad)

Connect the Mic Receiver to your iPhone or iPad using the included Lightning Adapter. The built-in Camera app will automatically detect and use the ClipX as its audio source.

Android

Connect the Mic Receiver directly to your Android device's USB-C port. If your default camera app doesn't recognise the external mic, use the Open Camera app (free on Google Play Store) and configure it as follows:

  1. 1Open the "Open Camera" app from the Play Store.
  2. 2Navigate to the app's Settings.
  3. 3Tap on Video Settings.
  4. 4Select Audio Source and choose External mic (if present).

This enables the ClipX to be used as the primary audio source for all video recordings in the app.

Cameras & Other Devices

The Mic Receiver connects to any device with a USB-C or 3.5mm audio input. For cameras with a 3.5mm mic input, use a USB-C to 3.5mm TRS adapter (not included). The ClipX will appear as a standard external microphone input.

Charging

1. Charging the Dock

A

Connect the Charging Dock to a power source using the included Type-C cable. The four dot LEDs on the dock show the remaining battery level.

B

Each lit dot represents approximately 25% of total battery capacity. All four dots lit = fully charged.

2. Charging the Mic Transmitters

A

Place both Mic Transmitters into the Charging Dock, aligning the charging contacts at the base. The dock's LED indicators confirm charging has started.

B

You can also charge the Mic Transmitter directly via the Type-C cable. The red indicator light stays on while charging and turns off once fully charged.

Pro Tip
Always return both Mic Transmitters to the Charging Dock after use. The dock automatically begins charging when transmitters are inserted — keeping them at full charge for your next session.

LED Indicators

The ClipX Mic Transmitters and Mic Receiver use LED indicators to communicate every state. Note that the ClipX uses yellow as its "connected" indicator — distinct from other VOOK products.
