Who we are, what this policy covers, and where it applies
VOOK is a brand of Buy Box Retail ("we", "us", "our"), a company incorporated in India, with its registered office at First Floor, Khasra No-27/19, Plot No-04, Raju Enclave, Sector-14 Dwarka, New Delhi – 110078. We design, manufacture, and sell wireless microphones and related audio accessories, along with a companion mobile application ("VOOK App") available on Android and iOS.
This Privacy Policy applies to all personal information we collect through:
- Our website at vook.in and all subdomains
- The VOOK App on Android (Google Play Store) and iOS (Apple App Store)
- All VOOK hardware products that connect to or are managed via the VOOK App
- Customer support channels, warranty services, and online promotions
- Any other service where this Policy is linked or referenced
By accessing vook.in, downloading the VOOK App, purchasing a VOOK product, or using any of our services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use and contact us to close your account.
Information We Collect
Categories of personal data we hold and why
We collect only information that is reasonably necessary to provide our services, fulfil your orders, operate the VOOK App, and comply with applicable law.
Identity Data
Full name, username, display name, and date of birth where required.
Contact Data
Email, phone number, billing and delivery address.
Transaction Data
Order history, payment method type, invoice details. Full card numbers are never stored by us.
Device & Technical
IP address, device identifiers, OS version, app version, browser type, crash logs.
Product Usage
Microphone settings, firmware version, EQ profiles, pairing history, and feature interactions in the App.
Communication Data
Support tickets, emails, warranty registration, and survey responses.
Analytics Data
Pages visited, referral sources, session duration, and general geographic region only.
Preferences
Communication opt-in/out, language and currency settings, and consent records.
We never collect: biometric data, health or medical information, financial credentials, caste, religion, or political opinion. We do not record, store, or transmit audio from your microphone — all audio processing occurs entirely on your device.
How We Collect Your Information

Below is a complete, transparent list of every device permission the VOOK App may request. Note: VOOK wireless microphones connect via a 2.4 GHz USB/Lightning wireless receiver — Bluetooth is not used. This section satisfies the Google Play Console Data Safety form and Apple App Store App Privacy requirements.

The VOOK App does not record, upload, transmit, or store any audio content. VOOK microphones transmit audio wirelessly over 2.4 GHz RF to a physical receiver — this is entirely hardware-level and the App never intercepts this audio stream. All in-app audio preview features are processed locally on your device in real time and are never sent to our servers or any third party.
Connectivity: VOOK uses a 2.4 GHz USB/Lightning wireless receiver — no Bluetooth required. Data collected: Device identifiers, app interactions, crash logs (anonymised). Data linked to identity: None from the App without account login. Data sharing: Anonymised crash data with analytics providers (e.g., Firebase Crashlytics) for stability only. Data sold: Never. User controls: All optional permissions can be revoked via device settings at any time.

Why We Use Your Information
Lawful bases and specific purposes for processing
We process your personal data only when we have a valid legal basis under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act). Our bases are: consent, contractual necessity, legitimate interests, and legal obligation.

Who we share data with and the limits we impose
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party — ever. We share data only as necessary to operate our business, always subject to binding data protection agreements.

International Data Transfers
When your data is processed outside India
VOOK is an Indian brand and we prefer to store and process personal data within India wherever possible. However, certain technology service providers — including cloud infrastructure, analytics platforms, and crash reporting tools — may process data on servers outside India (e.g., United States, Singapore, or EU).
When such transfers occur, we ensure protection by entering into data processing agreements that require the recipient to maintain standards equivalent to Indian law, using only reputable providers with documented security certifications, and periodically reviewing providers for compliance.
How We Keep Your Data Safe
Technical and organisational security measures
Encryption in Transit
All data between your device and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS. The App uses encrypted channels for all API communication.
Encryption at Rest
Sensitive database fields are encrypted at rest. Payment data is handled entirely by PCI-DSS compliant processors.
Access Controls
Role-based access ensures only authorised personnel can access personal data. All access is logged and auditable.
Breach Response
We maintain a data breach response procedure. Affected users and authorities are notified as required by Indian law.
Vendor Oversight
All third-party providers are contractually required to maintain equivalent security standards and reviewed periodically.
App Security
The VOOK App follows OWASP Mobile Security guidelines. No audio content is transmitted to our servers externally.
Data Retention
How long we keep different types of personal information

Your Rights
Rights you have over your personal data under Indian law
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and applicable Indian consumer protection law:
Right to Access
Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, plus how it is used and who it is shared with.
Right to Correction
Ask us to correct inaccurate or outdated information. Many fields can be updated directly in your VOOK account.
Right to Erasure
Request deletion of your personal data where it is no longer necessary, subject to our legal obligations to retain certain records.
Right to Withdraw Consent
Where processing is based on consent (e.g., marketing), withdraw at any time without affecting prior lawful processing.
Right to Restrict Processing
Ask us to limit how we use your data — for example, while a correction request is being verified.
Right to Nominate
Under DPDP Act 2023, nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity.
Right to Grievance Redressal
Escalate to our Grievance Officer (Section 16), and thereafter to the Data Protection Board of India or Consumer Forum under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

Children's Privacy
Our policy on data from users under 18
VOOK products and services are intended for individuals aged 18 years and above. Under the DPDP Act 2023, individuals below 18 are classified as children and require verifiable parental or guardian consent before we may process their data.
We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18 without appropriate consent. If we become aware such data was submitted, we will delete it promptly. Parents or guardians may contact support@vook.in to request deletion.
The VOOK App does not include any features, content, or design elements intended to appeal to or target children under 18.
Third-Party Links & Platforms
Where our responsibility ends
Our website and App may contain links to external websites, social media platforms, e-commerce marketplaces (Amazon India, Flipkart), and partner portals operated by third parties. These links are provided for convenience only.
We have no control over the privacy practices of third-party sites and are not responsible for how they handle your personal information. When you leave vook.in or the VOOK App, this Policy no longer applies. Please read the privacy policy of every website you visit.
Direct Marketing
How we communicate product news, offers, and updates
With your consent, we may send marketing communications via email, SMS, push notification (VOOK App), or social media. You may opt out at any time by:
- Clicking the "Unsubscribe" link in any marketing email
- Replying "STOP" to any marketing SMS
- Disabling push notifications in your device settings or within the VOOK App
- Emailing support@vook.in to request removal from our marketing list
- Updating preferences in your VOOK account settings
Opting out of marketing will not affect order confirmations, shipping updates, warranty notices, security alerts, or firmware notifications. We comply with India's TCCCPR regulations and the NDNC Registry requirements.
Policy Changes
How updates to this Policy are communicated
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we make material changes, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this page, maintain the updated Policy permanently at vook.in/pages/privacy-policy, and for significant changes, notify registered account holders by email and display an in-app notice within the VOOK App.
Your continued use of our website, products, or App after the Effective Date of a revised Policy constitutes acceptance of those changes. If you do not agree, please discontinue use and contact us to close your account.
